Seek the souks
I worked in Dubai for six months. I would absolutely recommend that anyone who travels to Dubai visits the gold and spice souk. Follow each winding path and peruse traditional genie lamps, staggering gold and jewels and exquisite art.
For the second half of the experience, catch an abra across the river to the spice souks (I would recommend you do this at 4pm or 5pm, as the sun is easing down).
